Photo etching is used extensively in manufacturing custom meshes, filters and sieves as unlike conventional machining technologies the process offers unlimited complexity – you only pay for the first hole.
Manufactured in a single piece, photo etched meshes are slimmer, cleaner and have greater integrity, making them more robust during handling. Where punch-perforated sheets are prone to distortion, photo etched mesh is burr and stress-free, with zero material degradation.
Metal etching is also called chemical etching. It is a kind of high-precision, strictly controlled corrosion process, uses the principle that metal in tap water or salt water as the liquid of the main etching body produces anodic dissolution to etch metal. It is mainly used to produce high-accuracy complex metal elements that have high requirements for details.
For the width of the webs in a screen, the general rule in design is webs must be at least 2/3rd the thickness of material. For instance, on a screen etched out of .010 thick material the webs on the screen must be at least .006 wide.
Our process can also make screens that require small holes. The openings on the screen must be at least 20% larger than the material thickness. Therefore on a .010 thick screen the holes must be at least .012 in diameter.

Compared to perforated metal, it does not need polishing, and moreover, it’s very easy to change design and takes shorter producing time. It can produce what perforated metal machine can not produce.
Rechargeable nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries are constructed using nickel as the positive node. The nickel electrodes, or cathodes, are grids or screens of varying configurations that are readily produced by photo etching. NiMH batteries are rapidly replacing NiCad because they do not contain toxic cadmium and offer better life cycle performance.
